Bathroom remodelling weekend extravaganza!!!

Well we had a very busy couple of weekends at the Henley household. Lilly and Evy got into the helpful spirit in remodelling the bathroom.

Please note Evy's "high heel sparkle shoes"
I was called into the room on Sunday. They had apparently been practicing for quite sometime. Lilly got self-conscious about dancing, but she still boogied some. ENJOY!

Wait for it.......AND POSE!

It's only been.........like.......three years.

Whoa, I guess time flies when you're raising kids.

Unfortunately, I am also lame on the picture taking these days, so these are the most recent photos of us. More to come (hopefully before the next three years) soon. Well, soonish.

Evy says: "I love you Granna and Poppa. Bye bye. I love you. At school today, I went outside to play for 25 minutes. And, I writed in my journal and I writed sight words like "there" like "There is a horse".

Lilly says: "I am working on my homework right now and I will get to do jumprope for 6 minutes and play basketball for 10 minutes after that. Tomorrow I am taking a home lunch."

Napping Evy.

Evelyn put herself to bed today at naptime and this is how she ended up.

First Day of Preschool.

Here is our official "First Day of Preschool" Portrait.

Lilly was a little bit nervous this morning, but when we got to the school, I let her out of the car and she ran up the sidewalk toward the teacher, arms spread wide, yelling "PRESCHOOL!!!". So, I guess that means she'll probably be alright. I cried just a little, but it was Evy's fault. When we went to the grocery store after taking Lil, Ev said, "I don't wanna go to the store. I wanna go back to preschool. I miss sissy." Awwww.

So, I go pick her up at noon and I am sure she'll be exhausted. David will take her tomorrow. I hope she is as good as she was today, because he will have an even harder time than me, because, well, he's a big fat baby. Noooo, because he's a sweet, nice, sensitive daddy, and just a little bit of a baby.

Here is the Preschool's Daily Schedule. So you can see what Lilly will be doing each day. They have breakfast and brush their teeth together - isn't that cute? When they do planning time, each child discusses what she is going to do during work time (usually a choice of several things) and why she is choosing that. Then during work time, they do the activities, then for recall time, they talk about what they did and if it was the same as their plan, why they changed their minds, etc. I think that is really neat.

So, my baby is officially getting big. Although as granna said, she didn't grow any bigger today than she does every day, it just feels like it.

Morning has broken

Let The Sunshine In!
Let The Sunshine In!
Sometimes I think of this song, when I very first wake up in the morning. "Morning has broken...", but usually not in the restful, peaceful, solemn way that it was intended. Today, apparently, was an exception - some mornings are peaceful and lovely. Here are the girls coloring in the sunshine this morning.

After this activity, the girls took a morning bath. Morning baths are nice because they are typically un-rushed and un-grumpy becuase they are not occuring right before bedtime. Lilly let me put her hair in braids today, then she looked in the mirror and said, I want to wear my braids when I go to school too. I told her I agree. We shared a loving hug and she grinned at me. Then she said, stop touching her hair so she could watch Caillou. Fine.

Snaky Adventures

David was mowing the lawn the other day and came across this very large garter snake. He caught it in a box for a little while for the girls to study. Apparently, it turned into quite the homeschooling lesson on snakes. Lilly, surprisingly, adopted the snake and was heard saying, "here snaky, snaky" and trying to get it to follow her. Evy just squealed in terror and excitement. Wish I would have been here. Oh, wait - I hate snakes - no I don't. But, the pictures are neat.
